Our physical therapy team has updated our physical therapy technology by adding an aquatic treadmill. We are the only physical therapy practice in Western North Carolina with an underwater treadmill. Our aquatic treadmill allows patients to take reps in a weight-bearing controlled environment using the treadmill.
Aquatic therapy refers to the treatments and exercise performed in water for relaxation, fitness, physical rehabilitation, and other therapeutic benefits. Our qualified aquatic therapist gives constant attention to the person receiving treatment in our therapy pool.
Aquatic therapy increases joint flexibility. Being in the water offers a tremendous advantage because it reduces the effects of gravity that helps with joint range of motion. The affected body part will float, making it easier and less painful to move. Additionally, the warm water helps to relax muscles that are sore or tight.
