Charles J. DePaolo, M.D.

Dr. Charles DePaolo is a graduate of the University of the South, Sewanee, Tennessee. He then received his BChE. at the Georgia Institute of Technology. For several years he was an engineer employed by Exxon Company, USA, New Orleans, Louisiana. He received his medical degree from Louisiana State University and completed his internship at Methodist Hospital in Memphis and residency in orthopedic surgery at the Campbell Clinic of Orthopedic Surgery in Memphis in 1992.
Dr. DePaolo has practiced medicine in Asheville for over 20 years and specializes in Sports Medicine, Joint Reconstructive Surgery, and Shoulder, Hip, and Knee Surgery. He is speciality certified in Sports Medicine “Certificate of Added Qualifications in Sports Medicine”.
Active participant in orthopedic research with National Institute of Health (NIH),
Dr. DePaolo is currently participating in two NIH studies concerning hip fractures treatment. He has performed research in rotator cuff repair techniques and is currently coordinating a post-market study in total knee arthroplasty.
